Project AAROGYA is structured using a hub-and-scope model, implemented with the partnership of Citizens Foundation and in convergence with the District Health Department. The Dhandabar Health Care Centre, is a unique model of convergence where the Government has provided their premises to operate primary health centre, providing lab tests and medical amenities. This project caters all the 27 operational areas through the Mobile Health Unit which delivers preventive and curative health care facilities at their door-step. To spread awareness in the community, numerous awareness camps are conducted on Anaemia, TB, STI, HIV, Malaria and other specialized diseases. This project also includes activities like Eye Check-up, Covid Testing camps, etc.

Project MACE

Project MACE, which stands for Multi Activity Centre for the Elderly, is an eldercare project in partnership with SAMARTH and the support of the District Administration Bokaro. This project promotes holistic care for elders by offering them a supportive and nurturing environment through Health Engagement & Mental well-being activities. They provide benefits to older adults in the area of health and medicine, regular expert talks and consultations, engagement activities like yoga sessions, bhagwad gita recitation and providing them with overall assistance for better accessibility to resources. Currently, there are more than 200+ members associated with the MACE project.

WOMEN EMPOWERMENT- PROJECT JIVIKA

Project JIVIKA, a collaborative endeavor with the Drishtee Foundations, is dedicated to fostering the socio-economic empowerment of women. The initiative is geared towards uplifting women to become the main providers for their families. Over a span of three years, the project endeavors to empower 150 Self-Help Groups (SHGs) comprising 1500 women through a diverse range of interventions in sectors such as textile, mushroom cultivation, phenyl production, bamboo crafting, and other income-generating activities, ensuring a monthly income ranging from Rs. 3000 to 5000.

In the fiscal year 2023, we have fortified 152 SHGs, encompassing 1384 members. This initiative encapsulates the SHGs' core mission, fostering collaborative growth and mutual development as a cohesive unit. Furthermore, the program enriches beneficiaries' capabilities through comprehensive soft skill training and enlightening exposure visits. Formerly confined to their homes, these women have transformed into proficient producers, effectively marketing their creations. Their newfound decision-making abilities have enabled them to initiate and manage their businesses. With remarkable strides achieved and a promising trajectory ahead, these women are poised to achieve even more extraordinary feats.

Project Shiksha, ESL’s educational initiative in partnership with the American India Foundation, focuses on bridging learning gaps and promoting holistic education for rural children, initiated on FY 25-26. Through Learning Resource Centres (LRCs), the project provides Early Childhood Education, Foundational Literacy & Numeracy, STEM, computer learning, and spoken English under one roof. Additionally, it supports 12 Nandghars, enhancing access to quality education.

Project Vedanta AAS Vidyalaya has completed two years from its inception. We currently have 4 education cafes set up at Bijulia, Chandankiyari, Yogidih & Madhunia Schools. This project is a digital learning initiative which is aimed towards bridging the schooling gap by bringing school in the pockets of students from classes 6th to 10th through their app EduChamp. The students can access the entire course curriculum & other engagement content from their phone and can also access the same through our education cafes which have laptops installed for their use.

We are running this project with Avileen Education Foundation's as our partner implementing agency. The project has received immense support & appreciation from the community and the students.

VEDANTA ESL SKILL SCHOOL, a Multi-trade residential training Centre of Excellence, is an ESL CSR initiative in partnership with SEEDS to reach out to youths over a course with an aim to provide them training & 70 % employment assuredly. The project aims to impart training through a short duration vocational program to the unemployed youth. The training program will equip the youths with necessary skills in accordance with industry standards, thereby engaging them in sustainable employment in an organized sector. The students are provided training in various trades namely, Solar PV Installer, Field Technicians and Other Home Appliances Services, Food & Beverages Services and Sewing Machine Operator. It is an NSDC Certified course that ensures a minimum salary ranging from Rs. 15000-17000 per month. Additionally, students are given basic knowledge about computer and soft skills training.

Project WADI works towards the development of orchard and restoration of denuded land through ecological intervention and soil conservation measures to ensure that the livelihood and food security of tribal households, bereft of necessities, are sustainably improved. The idea of WADI is to promote a more efficient, equitable, self-managed, and sustainable use of natural resources through on farm and off farm enterprise development and reduce the grievances of poverty-stricken tribal community members.

The Community Livelihood and Agriculture Program (CLAP) is a comprehensive initiative designed to enhance rural resilience through sustainable agriculture and community empowerment, initiated on FY 25-26. The program focuses on transforming farming practices by promoting natural farming and building local capacity, diversifying and intensifying crop production, regenerating soil health and conserving water across varied landscapes. It also strengthens community institutions to support bio-inputs and nursery development, while integrating nutrition-sensitive agriculture through homestead gardens to improve household food security and well-being.

PROMOTING SPORTS- VEDANTA ESL ARCHERY ACADEMY

Jharkhand is known for its inherent and rich culture of Archery and is a popular traditional game. Vedanta ESL launched this project to nurture this innate talent and initiated this project by spreading awareness through various campaigns in the nearby communities and successfully gathered children from those villages for the pilot run. Currently, Vedanta ESL Archery Academy supports the holistic development of 50 children by providing them access to National level coaches, modern equipment, wholesome nutrition, uniform and consistent guidance and support. Since the beginning of the project, the archers have won many accolades in the District, State, and National level tournaments. In this financial year, 32 gold, 27 silver and 12 bronze medals were bagged. Additionally, Vedanta ESL Archery Academy organized two mega events: District Archery Tournament and Vedanta Challenge Inter-Academy Tournament. The archers from Vedanta Archery Academy became the sole champions & displayed their excellent performances.

WATER AND SANITATION- PROJECT SWAJAL

Access to clean water is still one of the significant reasons behind unsafe drinking water in rural areas. Project Swajal was initiated to cater to this issue which is designed to address the problem faced by the community of our operational villages through various interventions, including handpumps repairing, solar-operated drinking water facilities, transporting water on numerous social occasions and installing water tap connections. The initiative also runs cleanliness campaigns intending to encourage safer hygienic practices in the community.

COMMUNITY INFRASTRUCTURE DEVELOPMENT- PROJECT NIRMAAN

Infrastructure is one of the major areas through which it helps meet the community's needs and provides better facilities and connectivity to the people residing in rural areas. Project NIRMAN focuses on various infrastructure development interventions such as road repair, Pond Excavation, construction of ghat and changing Rooms, renovation of existing buildings etc. It is a demand-based project that caters to all infrastructural requirements of the community. Apart from that, the government Aanganwadis are also being renovated under the Project.

EMPLOYEE VOLUNTEERING

V FOR SOCIETY is an Employee Volunteering initiative of ESL CSR, is basically a work-place based initiative that provide employees with support and encouragement, so that they can volunteer to the community as an individual or as a group. This acts as a great way to empower employees to help the society, as they are engaged in charitable as well as community-improving initiatives.

In this FY 22-23, 38 events were organised such as Safety Trainings, Motivational Sessions, Teaching Sessions, Special Seminars, Special Day celebrations, etc., in which our employees volunteered for 400 man hours.
