Why CSR

Any and every business operates in a society, within the community and not in isolation. Hence, the society we function must also be a society that benefits and grows.

CSR is beneficial for any business unit as it helps them attain a positive brand image, improve their customer’s perception & increase customer loyalty; build strong stakeholder connections and recognition at District, State, National and International levels; contribute towards the UN Global goals or SDG’s and assure overall adherence to the legality of the act.

The various activities that are carried out in CSR are mentioned in Schedule VII of the Section 135 of the Companies Act, 2013. Some include eradicating hunger, poverty, promoting preventive healthcare, sanitation, gender equality, reduced inequalities, initiatives for education, employment, skilling, sports and many more.

Introduction
True progress isn’t measured in numbers alone—it’s seen in healthier communities, empowered individuals, and sustainable livelihoods. At Iron Ore Odisha (IOO), our Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives aren’t just programs; they are solutions that transform lives, ensuring that development is inclusive, accessible, and enduring.
Through Project Arogyam, we are redefining healthcare accessibility, ensuring that even the most remote villages receive essential medical services via our Mobile Health Unit, maternal health initiatives (Mamta Divas), awareness camps, and specialized screenings. These efforts have strengthened preventive healthcare, making wellness a right, not a privilege.
Economic independence fuels true empowerment, which is why Project Jivika focuses on skill-building and sustainable livelihoods. Through driving and tailoring training, individuals have gained valuable skills, while mushroom cultivation and slipper manufacturing provide a pathway to financial stability and entrepreneurship. Access to clean water and sanitation is a fundamental necessity, and Project Nirmal ensures communities have solar-powered borewells for safe drinking water while advocating for Open Defecation Free (ODF) environments and upgrading sanitation facilities to enhance overall quality of life., leading to healthier living conditions and improved hygiene practices.
Project Vidya ensures that no child is held back by circumstances by providing remedial education support, reliable school transportation, and essential learning materials, fostering a culture of continuous learning and academic success.
Infrastructure strengthens communities and livelihoods, and through Community Asset Creation, we are lighting up villages with solar streetlights, building shared spaces through community centers.
Every initiative is driven by measurable impact, ensuring that change is not temporary—it is transformational. Through carefully crafted programs, strategic interventions, and unwavering commitment, IOO is not just making a difference—we are creating a future where every individual has the opportunity to thrive.
